Expand your collection of stunning copper bullion with the new Níðhöggr 1 oz Copper Round from Provident Metals. This 1 oz, .999 fine copper round is the first release in the Nordic Creatures series, produced by Anonymous Mint and designed by Howard David Johnson. The 5 round series brings 5 magnificent beasts from Nordic mythology to life on stunning silver and copper bullion.
Níðhöggr, the fiery and ferocious dragon, claims the obverse of the first release. This is a creature you would not want to encounter. According to the legend, Níðhöggr continually gnaws the roots of the World Tree, causing destruction and trauma. His appearance is frightful- mouth agape, ready to spit fire, and scales and spikes along his body, ready to strike.
The beautiful and serene reverse features Yggdrasil, the World Tree. Yggdrasil holds the Nine Worlds in its branches and is the meeting place for gods. The rune alphabet was said to have been carved on the trunk by 3 maidens. This strikingly significant ash tree is the ideal icon to share the common reverse throughout the series. A stag, serpent, and raven gather ‘round Yggdrasil, as Nordic poetry often remarked on the animals found amongst the branches and roots. “1 OZ .999 FINE COPPER,” is displayed along the bottom border of the round.
